Advent 2015 has arrived. We begin Advent with this invitation:
1.) If you are a regular worship
attender, please continue to worship with us
regularly during Advent as we prepare for the
coming of the Christ Child. 2.) If you have not been regular in
worship, Advent is a wonderful time to begin
3.) If you have not worship with us in a
long time, it is okay to come back and
worship with us again. Advent is a good time
to begin again. 4.) If you are looking for ways to
enhance the quality of living, please join us
for worship. Advent is a good time to look for
new meaning in life. 5.) If you want to share in the mission and ministry of Jesus, Advent is a good time to learn
what we can do to share the Good News of God’s love for all people. Why not join us during Advent as we celebrate the coming of the Light of God into all the
world? Our lights during Advent 2015 will include a light of understanding, a light of compassion, a
light of justice, a light of hospitality and a light of peace. Each Sunday new lights and new learnings
will help us focus on the one light from God.
Join us please, for worship each Sunday at 9:30 a.m. and on Friday, December 24, Christmas
Eve at 6 p.m. for the lights of Advent 2015.

A “Boatload of Christmas
– and “Undie Sunday” – Details
Christmas in July is our annual drive for the Domestic
Violence Intervention Program (DVIP). During
the month, we gather as many of their most-needed items as possible, including
personal care products for the children and (mostly) women who come to the
shelter with little or nothing more than what they are wearing and carrying
Thanks to our awesome Worship Committee, we have a great
summer theme to work with. Watch for a
boat in the Sanctuary. Yes, you read
that right, we’ll be able to give the DVIP a “Boatload of Christmas” this year.
“Top 10” needs list from their website is shown below. The entries in bold were on a shorter list
given to us by staff earlier in June.
That shorter list also included: sets
of towels, baby wash, baby powder, shampoos, conditioners, and body wash.
1. Women's underwear sizes 7-10
2. Twin sheets
Luster’s Pink Oil Moisturizer and B & B Hair Oil
5. Size 4-6 diapers
6. Deodorant (“always”)
Overnight bags and luggage
Hairbrushes and wide tooth combs
Along with all the above, over the years, Faith members have
tried to emphasize collecting make-up and skin care items for women at the shelter.
So check out your basements and linen closets for any
desired items you may have not used, gather up those small personal care
bottles that you brought home all year from trips, look for specials on
shampoos, towels, etc.
NOTE: Undie Sunday
will be the last Sunday in July, July 26th. So, (wait for it…), please don’t forget your
underwear that day! And be prepared for
underwear jokes all month.
Please help us fill our boat to overflowing with gifts.
Our worship space and worship themes will be a reflection of Summer past and present. Watch how the theme grows and changes through the month. Celebrate with us as we continue our ministry of service to others in our community and around the world each Sunday morning at 9:30 a.m.

The journey through Lent continues in March. This is a time for reflection and prayer; a time to make decisions about how best to share ourselves and our faith with those around us. Examining what we have and what we can give to others is one of the best ways we have of making our world a better place. Please join us each Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m. for worship. Each service will have time for confession and reflections. There will be time to here God's Word of the past and listen for God's Word of the present. Our mid-week Lenten Series will feature Rev. Becky David, a life-coach and spiritual director. She will help us focus on the life we can choose for ourselves. These services will be held on Wednesday evenings during March at 7:00 p.m. Please feel free to join us.
Maunday Thursday, April 2, at 7: 00 p.m. there will be a communion service followed by our Tenebrae Service. We will gather to remember Jesus' Last Supper and then hear the Scriptures recount the events following. This service, also known as the Service of Shadows, will be marked with the extinguishing of candles and silent reflection. Join us for this

Lent is a time of soul-searching and reviewing out life in relationship to our faith. Lent calls us to a time of repentance and reflection as we see ourselves in light of who God has called us to be. Please plan to join us each Sunday during Lent at 9:30 a.m. as we seek ways to both examine our living and then put into practice our faith. Each Sunday service will have a time for confession and renewal as well as a call to action in our living out of our days.
Special Lenten services will be held on Wednesdays, March 11, March 18, and March 25 with featured guest speaker The Rev. Ms. Becky Davis. Our liturgy will give time for reflection and the message will focus on economic justice in our lives. Join us on those three Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m.
Thursday, April 2 will be our Maundy Thursday service at 7:00 p.m.. Communion will be celebrated and a service of remembrance of the movement from light to dark as we prepared for the events of Good Friday and Jesus on the Cross.
